I'M SO CONFUSED! Aaghccksdfjksldfjoi. So let's do something that I CAN do: the distributive property!

let a = confusion
let b = laziness
let c = stupidity

a(b+c) = ab + ac = my current status

stupid involuntary reactions!

Posted by nfpvic at 04:55 PM on August 14, 2004.

OMG, I almost fainted yesterday at the volunteer work I did! T__T;; so embarassing. It was really hot, and I hadn't drunk that much water, and I had a really scanty lunch of crackers. We were done with our work around 12:00, and I was going to get a ride from this really awesome girl named Kathy when she finished donating blood.

Around 12:40 I went to the blood drive bus to see if she was done. Now, I hate needles and blood and shots and all that sort of stuff. So I'm in the bus, kind of uncomfortable, but nothing out of the ordinary. Then I see the blood coming out of her arm through a needle, my vision blurs, my hearing gets cloudy, and I say something like, "Oh hey guys, I'm about to faint" and sink to my knees.

Luckily, I was about to faint in a very convenient location, as I was surrounded by doctors! They let me lay down and gave me lots of water and chided me for a) not drinking much water, b) not eating much lunch and c) going into a blood drive bus while being terrified of needles. They were very friendly and nice though, and I felt better pretty soon. Still, AHHH it was so embarassing!

I know in my mind that there's no reason to be afraid of needles, that needles are not that big of a deal, and it's very illogical/stupid to get all scared, but fainting is just like a reflex to me! I can't help my body from reacting that way; it's not like I'm making myself faint. My body just reads: sight of blood-drawing needles = apoplexy. (Go SAT vocab! Speaking of which, I should really study more -_-; )

Otherwise, it was a pretty good volunteer opportunity. Got to get to know some CHS seniors! :D

worth the 20+ hours

Posted by nfpvic at 09:44 PM on August 18, 2004.

So. Today at about 7:00 pm, I earned $1000. AHAHAA yes, I am the grand prize winner of the Young Lawyer's Mentorship/Scholarship essay contest, for my essay entitled, The Effect of Law on Society. Boo-freakin-ya. XD [/gloating]

The awards banquet was pretty neat.. a little nervewracking; they congratulated EVERYONE, starting from the very last loser to the very first winner.. and the entire time I had to pee like crazy hehe. I was overjoyed to get grand prize, but pretty embarrassed too.. I suck at accepting compliments or awards x__x; I don't want to seem arrogant, but I don't want to seem phony, yet I don't want to seem airheaded or dumb.. ugh. Oh well.

Also, almost better than getting the award: I got to talk with Allison Highley again! She's just the coolest laywer in the world.. I love her to death. She gave me all of her contact info and stressed that I keep in touch :D I'm so happy! I'm going to email her tomorrow, I think. I'm also going to email Mrs. Peterson (honors english teacher) with the news and my essay!

I'M SO HAPPY! XD

the ad war continues

Posted by nfpvic at 10:48 PM on August 20, 2004.

So. Michael Moore made a movie that outright assails Bush in all possible ways conceivable. Does Kerry condemn this? No, he tries to use Moore's crap to his advantage in his comments about what he alledgedly would have done if he had been reading to the kids.

Kerry has been receiving millions of dollars in soft money donations to fuel his ads. Liberal factions such as Moveon.org have spent $63.5 million on anti-Bush propoganda over the last 12 months (source). Kerry's action to stop any of this? Nothing. He did jack squat. And I'm not necessarily condemning him for that; he's a politician.

But look. Now ONE independent group sends a message that's not against the democrats (and in fact consists of several democrats), not promoting Bush, but is against John Kerry's over-glorification and outright lying (read: cambodia; "Not one of Kerry's Swift boat crewmates, even the ones backing his candidacy, recalls being in Cambodia in Christmas 1968") about his service in Vietnam, the measley 4 months upon which Kerry is basing his entire campaign platform. The Swiftboat Veterans for Truth receive $200,000 from a separate supporter of Bush to air these ads. And what happens? Kerry goes ballistic, insists these guys are LYING B#$TARDS PART OF THIS HUGE BUSH CONSPIRACY AGAINST ME AND LIES LIES OMFG LIES ALL LIES, and demands that Bush condemn these ads. Instead of condemning the ads directly, Bush agrees that all soft money ads are bad and asks Kerry to "join [him] in calling for an end to all ads funded by unrestricted donations" like the ones that spent over $60 million against Bush. Kerry quickly and quietly declines, but proceeds to instead freak out, bash Bush for not speaking against these ads (failing to mention Bush's offer), and now this.

Is he more of an idiot, or more of an asshole?

Either way, it's obvious that he's trying to abuse the legal system in order surpress these veterans' rights to free speech. Geez, what a candidate. What scares me is that this is Kerry's braindead, kneejerk reaction to anything that could possibly harm John F. Kerry (like this). Instead of deciding what could be the best way to handle this, he explodes. Making it even more suspcious and more likely that the Swiftvets are correct. This "legal complaint" just illustrates Kerry's inability to separate his emotions from making reasonable, intelligent decisions. People have questions regarding your service in Vietnam, Mr. Kerry, so instead of using evidence to refute the alligations, you... cry to the FEC? Weak. Do we want a President who will scream and panic and make idiotic decisions at even the slightest sign of trouble? Maybe he'll file a "legal complaint" against the terrorists. That'll learn 'em.

God, I hope he doesn't get away with this because he's a Democrat. He might, thanks to our wonderful completely biased media.

Anyhow.

Thanks goes to Allahpundit for his godliness.

and now cross country beings!

Posted by nfpvic at 08:57 AM on August 24, 2004.

Mangrum emailed me yesterday with the cross country schedule:

Today--7am, 2 pm
wednesday--10 am
thursday--10 am, 4 pm
friday--11:30
saturday--10 am

This morning's practice wasn't too bad (15 minutes out, 15 minutes back) but I'm scared for the 2pm thing. Luckily it's raining so I won't die completely. And Salzman is so scary and weirder than ever (And Mangrum's so passive and quiet around Salzman.. it's so horrible! ..and in a way, really adorable XD) AND I was glared at for being literally two minutes late. I walked in and it was dead quiet and I felt so stared at. FREAKY!

Now Salzman's making us bring decorated rocks to run with this afternoon.. I'm serious. We have to get a rock, and then decorate it to match our personality, and then bring it to practice and run with it. Oh man. Don't know what that's all about.. and I don't want to know!

sammy loves rain

Sleepover party = HOLY GOD, THE FUNNESS. So much talking and gossip and secrets and complaining and laughing and tarot carding and DDRing and late night walking and playground playing and running boy Trent loving (XDXDXD) and Fred Meyer and loads and loads of food. One of the best sleepover's I've ever been to in my life. Must. Repeat. :D

Cross Country was awesome today, even with the double practice! Morning practice was freakin' hard, but somehow fun. I think it's because it's so rewarding.. plus it's just a wonderful feeling to be able to work so hard, and then be able to share your pains and pride with a group of people who completely understand because they just did the same thing. It's so.. family fun! Evening practice was even better. We did these evil run-on-the-football-field exercises, but then played kick the can! Oh man, it was so great! I had a blast. I felt so proud too-- never before in my life could I run fast enough to participate in and enjoy games like this! AHHH I love Cross Country!

In between morning and evening practices, I worked on Freedom's Answer. So many phone calls! But I'm getting better at talking to adults and I can leave messages on answering machines without studdering, but without sounding like a robot (I think?) Ack, I was supposed to write an email to DECA tonight too, but I found a surprise in my inbox that needed some attending to. I hope it's all good now, but I'll have to wait and see.

OH CRAP, I was supposed to go find sponsors for our XC jog-a-thon. AHHH I'll do it tomorrow morning.

Sleep time!

TIREDDDDD

Posted by nfpvic at 06:18 PM on August 30, 2004.

Cross country jog-a-thon was today, starting at 6:00 am and ending at (for me) 6:30 pm. I ran over 9 miles, approximately 4 of those miles as sprinted intervals. Ate a lot. And now I am brainlessly exhausted.

And we have practice tomorrow at 9:00 am T__T
